How do combination pills work?

I just started using combination birth control pills. I finished my first month of 21 active and 7 inactive pills and just started the 2nd month pack of active pills. Will i be protected from pregnancy right away or i need to wait for 7 days?

You’ve been protected for weeks considering you’ve been on it a month. 
You’re good AFTER the 1st 7 pills of your 1st pack. Just take your pills as instructed and you’re fine.

You’re good a week after starting the pills it would’ve told you on the instructions. It says wait at least a week before having sex when starting them since it’s been a month you’re good
