Return of the oversupply
Baby is 3 months old and I’m now back to work and pumping while we’re apart. While I was on maternity leave I was just using a haakaa to collect on the other side and pumping once in the middle of the night since baby sleeps through. I had a pretty aggressive oversupply of nearly 70oz a day in the beginning (had to exclusively pump for the first 10ish days PP) but i got that down to 15-20 oz a day which I was happy to maintain. Now that I’ve been back to work for about 3 weeks I’m following the “pump every 2-3 hours” to maintain supply rule and my freezer can’t keep up. I’m no lie pumping 10+ oz in 15 mins. Last night I got 14oz (filled the pump) in 12 minutes. Yesterday while at work I pumped 48oz in addition to feeding my baby when she was home. Obviously I don’t want my supply to tank by not pumping enough. But I don’t need to be pumping a weeks worth of milk in a day. I am donating a lot of it, but I’m producing it quicker than I can get it out and I’m running out of freezer room and I’m starting to feel constantly engorged again. Any tips on how to bring it down? I was able to bring it down the first time by slowly cutting out my pumping session, but obviously I can’t really cut out pumping sessions now. I’m only pumping for 10-15 mins every 3 hours and have stopped using my haakaa during nursing sessions. idk how else to lower it without possibly throwing myself in the wrong direction. I just want to get back to my 10-15oz a day oversupply because this is insane.
