My first ever Pap smear experience

Today, I had my first Pap smear, which proved to be a very painful experience. As a virgin, I appreciated the doctor's efforts to minimize discomfort, yet the procedure still caused significant pain, even with the use of the smallest brush. Following the examination, I experienced extreme lightheadedness, with my legs shaking so violently and my heart racing, accompanied by a cold sweat. I am seeking confirmation that these reactions are normal and if I will be okay. My mom suggested that my anxiety may have contributed to the intensity of the experience considering that I was nervous about doing it.
