Child support

Is it true it’s less with more children?

My bd an I are going through separation and he’s saying he won’t have to pay so much because it’s 2 children instead of one. Is this true?

I think what he may mean is it’s less per child because there’s more than one. I.e., if there was only one child, it may be $1,000 a month for that one child, but with two, he may only be required to pay $1,500 a month for both (I have no idea if this is actually true and pulled these numbers out of thin air as an example). But I don’t think he’s correct. He’ll have to pay whatever he’s required to pay by the court.

Yes it’s true in certain circumstances. If his only 2 children are with you it doesn’t really apply. If he’s already on child support for another child then yes. Only so much of his income can be taken so it becomes split between more children.

If you’re the only one he has kids with no that’s not true but if he has kids with someone else yes that’s true

Haha no. It will be more than it would be for one child.

Why put him on cs is he not an active father that provides ? I say if you can avoid messy court room and work something out go for it but if he doesnt want to be held responsible than by all means file

Some people us Cs to "controll" and get revenge on the other parent for no longer wanting to be with them and its so unfair to the innocent child .. because then the other parent grows resentment... i think if you can have a healthy co parent relationship than at least try for the children sake.... but if the parent is a total deadbeat then by all means go file for cs.... just because a romantic relationship failed doesnt mean the parent broke up with their child....

By all means be bitter but it only hurts the child in the end....

That’s not how that works. He is just as responsible for the “extra” kid/s as the first child. You don’t get a discount for having more than one kid. If that was the case many people would be trying to have kids nonstop so they can get out of paying child support.
