Child’s birthday and gifts
Today was my sons 7th birthday. He’s obsessed with baseball so last week we took him to a MLB baseball game for his birthday. Fast forward today we just gave him some small things (Lego set he wanted, tshirt/pajamas of his favorite game, candy, a book and a Minecraft water squirter). He made a comment “I thought I would get more toys to play with” and my heart just dropped. I worked really hard to make today great for him (balloons, donut breakfast, decorations all over, dinner out, special shirt and socks) I feel horrible he’s disappointed but I also don’t want him to get used to getting “stuff” as we have soooooo much already and his party is this weekend where I know he will get a lot of things (again part of why we just did an experience) I explained to him how it was but I still can’t help but feel guilty my boy was disappointed on his big day. What do you do for your child’s birthday gift?
