Has anyone ever had their epidural not work?

So when I went to go in for my induction for my first pregnancy, I I got the epidural, but I still felt every painful contraction. it was so bad I was throwing up. I Mostly felt it in my back. I don’t know how you ladies do it natural with the contractions alone. I didn’t feel “the ring of fire” that was the only thing the epidural actually numbed and I’m so thankful for that because the contractions were so damn painful. I don’t know if it’s because it was an induction? Or what? Has anyone dealt with this before? 

 I’m just asking because I am pregnant with my second now and I definitely know I’m not doing an induction again 🤦🏻‍♀️ everything I went through with the induction was just added pain. But I’m definitely terrified of labor now
