In the explanation of witches
This was a response to a separate thread explaining what a witch was, and being rather proud of it, thought I'd share as it's own topic for anyone curious! Conversation is welcomed and encouraged, but mutual respect is MANDATORY if you wish to comment. Thanks!
"Witches are anyone who learns to perceive and manipulate the natural energies around us and in the universe for the purposes of manifesting our will. Many people use different tools (herbs, writing, stones, really anything that helps focus the mental concentration and will) for purposes of spellcasting while the most advanced don't need anything at all.
The dogma behind magic using generally dictates the rules an individual uses when spellcasting. For example, Wiccans believe "Harm none, do what ye will" which means as long as you're not hurting anyone, do what you want. Others may condone malicious spellcraft under particular circumstances, and even others may not have any qualms with malice. Their belief system also usually classifies what is considered "malice" to begin with. It really just depends on the individual and their belief system.
Think of it like using a highway - everyone can access it to drive on it, but some drive cars, others trucks or motorcycles. Some drivers would NEVER drive while intoxicated, while some may be ok driving buzzed/drunk but only in dire circumstances. While others don't care and have no problem hopping behind the wheel drunk.
Magic is powerful, real stuff, and it's our charge as users of it to be responsible and careful. Hope that helps!"
