Postpartum symptoms… concerning or no?
I just had my second baby via c section (also my second c section) on September 30th. When I had my first child via cesarean, I remember being quite sore and I did end up developing an infection in my incision that made me a little sick. However, I’m feeling really strange this time around and I honestly don’t know if it’s something I should be concerned about or not.
I know that some swelling is normal and can linger for a couple of weeks, but my lower legs and feet are unrecognizable they’re so swollen. I can’t really move my toes and when I do, it’s painful. I have elevated and iced them, it doesn’t matter, they’re constantly ridiculously swollen.
I also have a really bad headache that will not go away despite taking both the Percocet and Ibuprofen prescription that I was released with. It’s in the base of my skull in the back, up, and all the way around my forehead. I’m not sleeping very well as I chose to breastfeed and I have a 2 year old toddler on top of my newborn.. I know that lack of sleep can contribute to the headache, but even when I sleep for more than an hour at a time and wake up feeling much better rested, the headache is still pretty intense. My throat is killing me, literally feels like it is swollen as well. I don’t know how to describe this next part, but my chest feels heavy? I’m not struggling to breathe and my vitals were fine before I left the hospital, but I just have a really strange heavier feeling in my chest.
My OB office is closed and won’t return my messages until Monday if they even get to them then (they’ve been known to not message me back for days or sometimes not at all) but I do have to take my son back to L&D tomorrow afternoon so I can always bring it up to a nurse then, I just wanted to see if anybody had a similar experience or even has any advice for managing these symptoms as I’m pretty miserable at the moment.
