How much do I breastfeed?

This is night 2 for my baby pp, and all day today he's really only nursed every 4 hours. But when he does, he nurses for like 30+ minutes. I thought he would nurse more tonight cuz I heard night 2, they tend to cluster feed, but he doesn't act hungry when I try to feed him any closer together. I know the recommendations say 2-3 hours, but how strict are those? Do I need to be forcing food if he is not interested?

You NEED to be giving breast every 2-3hrs. Every 4 for a 2 day old is too long.

My second was like that. I freaked out because I'd heard so much about blood sugar tanking and she was born small. I couldn't get her to wake up and latch after 2 hours. My midwives told me that I didn't have to be strict about it and follow her, and trust my intuition. She woke up about 4 hours after eating, ate more, and went back to sleep.
