Taxes
I live in the US (specifically Pennsylvania) so this is a constant topic of conversation here as a swing state during the election.
The argument is about how much people are taxed. If the rich should be taxed more. If corporate tax cuts are an issue. Add medical coverage to conversation. So it got me looking at my 2023 EOY numbers.
My husband and I made $160,413.42
We paid $41,930.48 to the government or 26.14% (that’s federal/state/city/medicare/social security/unemployment) and an additional $7,856.59 or 4.9% in health/dental/vision insurance for us and our two children. (Fun fact, he covers that because if I did the cost is 40% more as my income is almost double his) So in total, 31.04% off our income is gone before we even see it.
So where are you from, how much do you make, how much do you never see, and is health/dental/vision included or a separate expense?
The propaganda here is that other countries that have universal healthcare pay over 50% of their income. True? False? Let me know!
