Watch for Supplements: Ginkgo Biloba Delays Periods
Hey ladies and uterus having friends — please do research the supplements you decide to take.
I decided to up my health and wellness by researching supplements to help with brain fog and concentration, as someone with ADHD who is high achieving and has a lot of responsibilities (eldest daughter, auntie, educator, cat mama, creative, etc….)
I found the supplement Ginkgo Biloba through a few recommendations and started incorporating them into my regimen, along with iron, cranberry, multivitamins, and ashwaganda.
After a couple months, I noticed my period start a few days later than normal. Mind you, my cycles have always been regular (I’m only 26, no kids).
This past month, it was 18 days later than normal. I started panicking after a week had gone. I took tests that were negative, even went to the doctor and had my annual, along with a blood and urine test. All negative.
Turns out, ginkgo biloba is known to disrupt menstrual cycles, by delaying or impairing them: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/your-brain-food/202111/new-study-finds-ginkgo-may-impair-reproductive-function?amp
