Please someone explain surge and peak!?

Hi!

So I’m not new to OPKs .. i used them with my son in 2018 after a loss and now trying again after a loss in June.

Used them last month and got a positive which i can read easily but since i’ve been on this forum i am now confused about surge and peak!? I thought i just needed a positive test then stop testing?

I saw someone say peak lasts 24-48 hours AND then ovulation happens 12-36 hours AFTER that!?

I thought it was 12-48 hours after your first positive (whether that be surge or peak) egg is likely to drop?

I used digital and cheapy .. should i stick to one or the other?

Last month i got solid smiley tuesday night but cheapy wasn’t positive till the next morning. I went by the solid smiley …
