What happens at First prenatal appointment

Question

I’m wondering what my first prenatal appointment entails. Is there going to be an exam of any kind? Is a Doppler going to be used by chance and get to possibly hear the heartbeat?  I go on Wednesday and by then I’ll be 6+4, so I’m just trying to find out what to expect.

It’s different everywhere. Depends on your doctors office. First baby, I got ultrasound, blood work and a packet of things to look at. 
This second baby, I got an ultrasound (you typically get one to make sure the embryo implanted inside of your uterus) and a packet with a bunch of info like upcoming appointments. 
My friend though… her first appointment was a phone call. So it depends.

In the UK it is very boring and you just answer health related questions. They can’t get the heartbeat on a Doppler til much, much later maybe 16 weeks.
