Share your induction story? ☺️

Question

I’m being induced the day after tomorrow I’m super nervous, but so excited to meet my little one ☺️ can I hear some positive induction stories? How far were you dilated when you went it? Did you do pitocin right away? Fooley ball? Did they break your water? If so did it hurt? All the details please lol

I was induced with my second. First was natural labor that was 36+ hours and 3 hours of pushing. With my 2nd I went into preterm labor at 35 weeks and walked around like 2-3cms dilated until the induction. We checked in a 7am and they did a scan to check babies position and hooked me up to the monitors. I was actually already contracting on my own every 9 minutes when we got there. So I asked to wait another hour or so to see if I could get them closer together naturally with walking, using the ball etc. which didn’t happen. At 11am we went with the foley balloon. I had it with my first and it wasn’t bad but this time it was pretty difficult so they gave me some pain meds while they placed it. dr wanted to start pitocin but I wanted to see what the foley would do. Definitely got things going. At 2pm it fell out at I was 5cm and contractions were every 4 minutes. I chose to labor on my own for an hour again to see what happened. Unfortunately my contraction started slowing down so I chose to get the epidural and start pitocin. All of that was done around 5pm. at 6pm the doctor came in, checked me again and I was 6cm. She broke my water which was painless. But super effective lol. Since I’d only dilated another cm in the last 4 hours I figured I’d be a while longer and told my husband to go get some food and update our families. Probably 20 mins after he left I started getting really restless and uncomfortable. I had the nurse come in and help me reposition and I was still restless and felt like I needed to poop and she was concerned. Checked me and I was a full 10cm dilated and crowing. My husband almost missed the birth. From my water breaking to delivery was 45minutes. I look back at our texts from that day and my husband left the room around 6:20 and I called him back at around 6:45. Pushed for about 15 mins and baby was born at 7pm. 
Overall my induction was a breeze and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Definitely don’t be afraid to speak up and contribute to the game plan. I wanted to take things slow and let my body try to do the work first. I kinda dread to think what would have happened if I let the doctor do the foley balloon, pitocin and break my water at the start like she wanted to.

I was 1cm and 40+9 when I went in. I didn’t end up needing induced as I had a sweep which popped my waters. I started contracting at 2am and he was out by 8am. 
In the UK, they don’t induce you until they have a midwife ready to look after you, so there were people available throughout the whole process which was a great comfort.

Awe I remember I wrote this kind of post almost 4 years ago with my first baby🥹 I went in at 37 weeks to be induced because of gestational hypertension. The first time will probably be a very long process.. I was in the hospital for 3 days. I came in and they gave me the tiny tiny little pill .. I forgot what it’s called. And every few hours I had to take it orally. I took 3 of them and all night my cramps were getting worse but still manageable. It went away for a bit they gave me fentanyl through IV about 2-3 times that night and it helped me soooooo much! I passed out right away and was able to sleep. they did the pitocin through the IV the next day. I was progressing pretty well and than that day they started the pitocin and also later the ball they put inside you to dilate and make your water eventually break. It actually wasn’t painful,,, my contractions started getting really bad so i didn’t mind it. It was not in me for long and they took it out and it did help dilate me but didn’t break my water. After about 20 or so minutes i stood up and I felt a pop and gush and my water broke. Right when my water broke I felt an immense pressure down there and horrible contractions.. I was begging for epidural . I wasn’t sure how many centimeters I was at this point. They said that he was in surgery and I will have to wait about 30 minutes for the epidural. After about a min from that conversation I told them I feel the baby coming out and my body was naturally pushing already.. I literally had no control over it. My midwife immediately checked me and told me I was ready to push. I don’t remember how many pushes but I know it took about 7 minutes and she was out❤️ I was also induced with my second but that’s also a whole other story.. I was ALOT faster the second time around cuz your body already went through it. I came in the hospital that evening and within a few hours I had him… we didn’t even get to the pitocin part😅

I was induced with my second, about a week overdue and he was big. I was hardly dilated so they used cervical gel at 11 am and sent me home. First contraction was 130pm, over the next couple hours got everything together to bring my daughter to my mom's. Was admitted around 730, he was born at 10 49, 10lbs 7oz. 
My 4th was also induced. I had bleeding, followed by very sporadic contractions. Was at a 5 with no labour but because of bleeding we decided to break my water. She wasnt positioned great so it still took quite a while after they broke it. 
My 2 without inductions were more tolerable pain wise, but weren't too much different than my induced. I did have the gas to help with pain with 3 and 4, but nothing else.

Was about 3ish dilated. Gave me pitocin. No pain meds at all.but didnt hurt. Was walking around the halls and hanging with the nurses at the station and playing games with my husband. At 4 hrs contractions were about 60-90 seconds apart but water wasnt breaking. They broke my water and baby was there 9 minutes later after 3 pushes. No pain meds and pain never above a 2/3 on a 1-10 pain scale. Left 12 hrs later with my perfect baby in my arms.

I was induced with my first. I was only 1cm when i went in. Had a fooley catheter in for 12hrs. I was only like a 3-4cm when.that came out. I was given a cytotech (pill type thing they put in your vagina) & started pitocin. They broke my water bc labor wasnt progressing. The actual breaking.of my water didnt hurt but the contractions afterward were HELL. I got an epidural shortly after lol delivered my boy about 3hrs after the epidural. I was in labor for 22hrs. I was advised to be induced bc my baby was measuring big. (He ended.up being 8lbs13oz). It wasnt an awful experience for me, but after going into labor naturally with my 2nd i would never wanna be induced again lol bottom line is: you can do this! Your body was made to do this. No matter how your baby is born, as long as you both are healthy, not much else matters. I hope you have a wonderful induction & birth. I hope you & baby are happy & healthy during & after delivery!
