Burning plastic smell…

I bought a new frying pan set two days ago, they’ve been washed and the pan in question has been used twice with no issues. Tonight using it to cook chicken in some butter for dinner (a current craving) we started to smell burning plastic at first it was faint and by the time chicken was done we could really notice it. I wasn’t sure what was happening because this was the only pan being used and we haven’t had this issue prior. I removed the chicken from the pan opened a window and turned on a fan. The chicken looked and smelled fine, husband said it tasted fine lol I smelt the pan as did he and we didn’t smell anything except the smell was all in the kitchen and surrounding the burner it was weird. My question is would this smell hurt my baby.. I’m in the first trimester and hoping the toxins didn’t hurt little bean. Also if the chicken smelled fine and hubs said it tasted fine would it be fine to eat lol probably wont be using that pan again which is a bummer.
