Do people usually say bad stuff about another when they’re upset?

Pls no judgement. I don’t really get into arguments with anyone besides my sister. Every time she is upset with me she goes behind my back and calls me crazy or mental and it really messes with me because she knows i have postpartum depression. But today she messaged me and said she loves me and promises she doesn’t hate me. She said don’t overthink it because everything will be fine. 
But is this normal?

I mean I think everyone is guilty of lashing out and saying stuff when they’re upset. Sure. But that sounds a lot different than her consistently calling you the same names over and over again behind your back while telling you to your face that she loves you

I definitely wouldn’t call it normal. I have a sister like this and she has huge problems with emotional regulation. I had to cut her off for my own peace until she finally decided to get help for it, if this is a common thing then that might be something you need to do too
