Bleeding after sex anybody whos been to dr please comment!!

I am having bleeding about 3-4 hours after sex, it is bright red and not spotting. It is like a light period but I am definitely not on my period as it ended 6 days ago. It is not an external injury. I have been having issues with spotting between periods and after sex for a few months already but never this much bleeding. I am going to go to the doctor, but it is abit of a long wait for it and wanted to ask if anybody has experienced this and went to the doctor what did it turn out to be? Please comment thank you!!
