Considering elective c section
I am 12 weeks pregnant with my second and wondering if I should do an elective c section.
My first was a vaginal delivery at 37 weeks about 2 years ago. I am very small (under 100 lbs when conceived) and my early baby was almost 9 lbs. My water broke and nothing was progressing, so after 2 days I opted for Pitocin and an epidural. Baby came within 3 hours of receiving the Pitocin and epidural. I had second degree tears on my labia and perineal. My labia tear was excruciating. I couldn’t lift my baby for 4 weeks without ripping it open, I couldn’t sit on a soft sofa for over 8 weeks, and no sex for about 6 months. I went to a pelvic floor PT for over a year and that helped with some of the nerve damage and scar tissue. I still can’t sit on lightly padded chairs for more than 15 minutes without pain, ride a bike, do most sex positions, wear underwear or wear semi tight pants without days of pain following.
I’m so scared of going through this again and it becoming even worse. My doctor said I can get an elective c section if I choose.
What would you do? Anyone have a good experience with their planned c section?
