Barely any Ultrasounds?

Question

Anyone else have only 1 ultrasound before 20 weeks? I swear I had 3 before I even hit 20 weeks with my son but this time around I had a scan at 8 weeks and won’t have another until 20 😭 
I just want to see her once more before 20 weeks! I know it means healthy pregnancy so I am grateful, but my pregnancy with my son was low risk and I still had an ultrasound at least every 8 weeks. 
She was also moving SO much at the 11 week appointment we couldn’t hear her heartbeat with Doppler, but my midwife was able to find her for just long enough that she got a read for the numbers of the heartbeat if that makes sense? But I personally didn’t get to hear it ):

I’ve had 5 so far and I’m 13 weeks… there’s a private ultrasound “boutique” not too far from me that I like to go to. I’ve only had 2 through my DRs office though.

Some doctors are more conservative with the ultrasound exposure. The FDA recommends the least amount of ultrasound exposure possible especially the earlier the pregnancy is. You can google it. There is much founding evidence it causes harm but they do have evidence it causes heat in the fetal tissue and causes bubbling within the tissue. They don’t know the effects of this. And there are methods to reduce effects during the diagnostic exams like the 20 weeks anatomy scan where the benefits out weights possible risk

1-3 total for a whole pregnancy is normal and standard.
One around 12w for NT scan (not done much anymore because NIPT is more widely used). One at 20w for anatomy check. Dating scan between 6-8w may happen but not that common anymore. Growth scan may happen in the third trimester if there is a cause for concern.

If u dont get like offered ultrasounds nomore at your clinic then pay for one. Some places are cheap. The place i go charges like 30-50 bucks and it includes other things like pictures to take home and etc..

Very normal. We usually get an 8 to 12 and a 20 week. I've always had more because of needing a growth scan as my babies tend to be big, or not head down 😅

I would say if you want to see the baby you can opt on paying to see her I know if you are having a regular normal pregnancy you only have three ultrasounds last one will be to check how baby growing like at 30 weeks

I only had 1 ultrasound at 12 weeks and then my 16week appointment my OB used a Doppler so I heard baby’s heart beat I have my 2nd ultrasound next week when I’m 20 weeks and we also get to find out what the baby’s gender will be. I was considered high risk with my last pregnancy with my son so I had weekly appointments but this pregnancy doctor says baby is healthy which I am grateful and thankful at the same time 💕
