What a whirlwind
We were scheduled to induce on 4/10 at 39 weeks. This was my first time scheduling an early induction. My other two were two weeks late and two days late. We got a call at 3:30am to not come in, too many mamas were in labor. Totally understood and they told me to come in the next morning instead. We had planned to induce on 4/11 anyway so that worked out. We show up and the nurse comes out and said we were scheduled for Tuesday. I was not happy and told her we had not been called and notified of the final change. I could barely walk for the last week because my left leg was not able to hold much weight so I was ready to cry. There was also no ‘give’ in my belly so I knew my baby was out of space and I had been nauseous for several days by then. The nurse asked if I had any of a list of symptoms and I told her yes (the nausea being the most prominent) so she said, let’s go monitor you and see what we can do. They only had one room open and we’re trying to save it in case someone came in in labor. She checked me and I was at a 3. Gave me a birthing ball and said she’d be back in about 45 minutes. My contractions kick started a bit and I started dilating. The nurse that delivered my second baby was coming in that day and I requested her if possible. She came in and checked me as soon as she got there and had the other nurse call the on and yell her I was now at a 6. After the nurse left she said “really probably more of a 5 but let’s call it a 6” I was so thankful it’s not funny.
The dr refused to break my water until after she had performed a scheduled c section because my oldest (Claribel James, the brunette) was 8 hours exactly from water break and my second daughter (Jupiter Scott, the blonde) was born at 2 hours 28 minutes after water break.
Harvard Ray made her appearance at 2 hours 18 minutes after water break. My first two were 7lbs 9oz and 7lbs 13oz so Harvey being 9lbs was not expected. We thought she fractured my pelvis but thankfully did not. However, we found out at 2 weeks old that her collarbone is fractured. 😭 we get to see an ortho specialist tomorrow but man I feel so bad for her. Her sisters are absolutely in love with her but we’re teaching them not to kiss her, only her clothes, and to stay away from her face.
It’s been such a whirlwind but I’m so thankful she’s finally here.
