What is a place to relocate as a single mom with a preschooler?

Hi,

I currently live in the Midwest and want change of environment. My main support system is here, but I am over the Midwest cold- esp the winters. I want to expose my child to yearly outside play, nature, mountains, water, etc.

Just curious to know if you all know of a place that is economically affordable & is also family oriented?

I’ve tried California already and came back to the Midwest bc it’s so expensive- therefore- I am currently looking at AZ and possibly Portland Oregon.

Any ideas/ suggestions would be great.
