Tranexamic acid for postpartum period

Does anyone else know what to expect with this med? I went to the ER today at the advice of my OB due to my heavy period. The ER doc prescribed it and I didn’t think to ask any questions. I was so desperate for the bleeding to stop I just said ok. I just want to know what other have experienced. I left a VM with my doctor’s answering service but I know I won’t get a call back for several hours if not until the morning since it’s not an emergency. I’m currently bleeding to the point where im on my 6 or 7th overnight maxi pad today. I’ve gone through 3 pairs of pants. This is my 2nd post partum period and I’m really hoping it’s a one off.
