Red flag or am I being controlling

I grew up with two parents who were awful to each other so I can never tell if something is a red flag or if I'm being controlling. Sometimes I looked past red flags and got hurt. Other times I've been controlling and drove good men away. Me and my boyfriend just moved in together. I'm so happy and he's a great guy. He got a text from his best friend that he didn't tell me about. His best friend said "NEW FREAKY FRIDAY!!! IN THEATERS AUGUST 8TH!!!! YOU! ME! MOVIE!" My boyfriend replied "Lol it's a date." Which that doesn't bother me. He talks to everyone like that. When he hangs out with his younger brother he says it's a date. What bothers me is he didn't ask me first. He has no idea if there's anything I want to do August 8th. Also why agree to something so far in advance. Especially without consulting the one you're wanting to marry? Am I just being controlling here?
