What do I do about a shifted IUD??

Zoe

Hey ladies, so to sum it up I am 20 and I have had my mirena in for about 4-5 years (2021). For the first 2 years I had no periods and no issues at all. 2 years ago I started dating my bf and after a few months my period came back. After my period came back it was getting more and more painful and heavier so I went to my gp and she tried to feel the string and she couldn’t so she told me to get an ultrasound. Long story short I didn’t get it and now this year my periods have been causing extreme cramping and back pain to the point of being bed ridden. So I went to my gp again and she booked me an internal ultrasound to look for the mirena and to look for endometriosis. I got the ultrasound and the lady told me that I did still have my mirena but it is definitely not in the correct place. During the ultrasound I experienced a lot of pain and almost cried even though many people have told me it doesn’t hurt at all.

So now I have my doctors appointment Tom to discuss the results including any findings of endo and I am extremely nervous.

- any advise? Or anyone have similar experiences?

- why would it have shifted after 2 years?

- if I get a new one put in could this happen again?

- will I go back to normal?
