Tooth pain/procedure and pregnancy

I hope I can find some relatable on this topic. I was eating pizza and bit on a peace Of glass mistakenly in the pizza that literally broke my tooth. Last 2days I started having toothache ache. While I think the took already had a slight cavity I feel like it has gotten worse since. I went to the dentist initially and he suggested leaving it alone before I was pregnant. Now that I’m pregnant and pain is kicking in I’m nervous and scared I may need a root canal. Are dental procedures done during pregnancy has anyone had it done and what are their advice and experiences. Kindly share.
