The implant and periods

So I got the implant in on October 15th and today I got my first period whilst I've been on it, but it doesn't seem like a normal one, the cramps are awful but there isn't much blood, and when there is it's kind of a brown/red colour, could anyone tell when what's going on? It doesn't seem normal at all
