Labor and delivery

I am very grateful to be pregnant but I find myself getting excited then getting really nervous, just knowing that I have to give birth. This is my first and all I hear are the horror stories...anyone have some positives when it comes to delivery? Plus I'm very scared they will try to give me a c-section, in the town I live in almost everyone has had one, I understand if one or the other are in danger but I feel like the doctors are getting impatient and issuing a c-section to anyone, it seems like vaginal births are uncommon now.
