Free will?

Question

Why exactly does the Bible say that God has given us free will when in reality we don't have a choice? If you don't want to burn in hell, you HAVE to commit to God. Obviously no one wants to burn in hell therefore our only choice is committing to Him no matter what because there isn't another way to heaven. Maybe I don't understand the concept of free will?? Please help.

My sentiments exactly. The bible is full of contradictions which is why I'm no longer Christian.

The bible as a whole concept is great - love yourself and your neighbor (which is really what pretty much every religion teaches). But once you start really looking in to the bible, it just gets to be a big confusing mess.

It's my belief that there are more gods than just the one and that there are more heavens and places of peace and rest than just one. Find your own path - one that makes sense to you and brings you peace and clarity.

I agree free will is the choice of ourselves and him. It sounds like the Bible makes no sense because you haven't gotten deep into the scriptures. It says it clearly people would read it and not understand. Once you understand to put him first in your life you'll understand everything else falls in place without feeling like your losing anything. Jesus did the ultimate sacrifice would you die for the world when they didn't recognize for who you were or even lose your child to a world that rejects you

He gives us the free will to either live to please Him or live to please ourselves. Although Hell is the consequence for not living for God and accepting his Son as our Lord and savior there are still many people who deny him and refuse to do so.
