Can a baby be overly tired?

My baby is almost a month old and for the past few evenings she's been crying nonstop. She's not hungry, her diaper is dry, doesn't seem to be gassy. I think she's been up too long and is just super sleepy. She's been up since 3pm, its now 10:40pm. I guess my question is can babies be overly tired, and just not able to fall asleep?

Yes. They can absolutely be overstimulated, and that makes it hard to 'turn things off' and go to sleep. Dr. Karp's "happiest baby on the block" has great tips for helping them sleep, especially when overstimulated.

What do the babies do between the 6 and 10 feeding in the evenings?

Follow this routine my 4 week old sleeps through the night with only a 3.30 feeding .. I did it with my twins and they were sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old it's a schedule book a the little content baby book it's amazing and now my little one even after the first week of doing it is following the routine like clock work

I totally think so. Babies just get fussy sometimes and fight their tiredness and sleep. My three week old son seems to do this. You can tell he's exhausted cuz he yawns and his eyelids are heavy but after a few minutes he wakes back up and cries for a minute.

Yes I do think so. If my LO gets fussy and I got though the checklist of possible problems (diaper, hungry, tried pacifier) I almost always realize that she's been up a while and I probably tired. She likes to be held all the time so I usually just start rocking or bouncing her and she passes out on my chest in no time.

I would love to know the same thing. Our two week old didn't nap as much as usual today, which is to say at all, and by early evening was completely out of sorts and would fuss no matter what we tried.
