Did your school have adequate sex ed?

Taking this poll for a research presentation on gender issues in school systems. Feel free to comment your answer, age, state, and opinion!!!!

I'm 29 and went to a rural school in SE Oklahoma. Sex ed was during grades 5th-7th (excluding highschool classes like health science or anatomy). The first thing they did in 5th grade was separate the male and female students. The males stayed at the school and learned about their anatomy and then female anatomy. Neither lesson was deeper than "this is how it works". I learned this from talking to friends.

The females were shipped off to a CATHOLIC CHURCH for the day. There we and two other schools female student body rotated the rooms. Only one was dedicated to anatomy and periods, another was about transmitted disease, then two dedicated to previous rape victims telling their stories, another was a teen mom. We spent the whole day at this place and several girls had been crying. You only got to listen to one rape victim or the mother, the one I visited had a blatantly sexist attitude towards all men. There was nothing about male anatomy, pregnancy, masturbation, emotions, fine details to make life easier and less confusing... It was just as empty in my 6th and 7th grade years.

Well I turned out being a very sexual person and I was so excited to have sex and saved my virginity for the one I loved. I expected to make some man a very happy husband being his insatiable whore. Imagine my surprise to find that men are often not the horn dogs my parents/preachers/literally any adult I had known had told me. After the initial teen hormones wore off, I was depressed for years. I felt cheated out of happiness because my mate was nothing like what I was prepared for. It sound rediculious but I truly thought that was what my life would be like forever -hormone fueled sexual rage. Becuase you know, all men are pigs right? Well turns out I was the pig. So then comes all the negative feelings of being horrible for believing something so stupid and sexist, and wondering what was wrong with me.

20, I live in Ohio

We got taken to a room for our puberty talk in 4th grade, after that taught basic health not labeled sex ed. We were however taught about STD's and pregnancy but very vague, didn't spend too much time on it. We focused more on the health aspects eating disorders and exercise. Honestly since becoming a mom I'd love to go get a degree in health education and open groups for pre teens and teenagers alike, and possibly teach. Problem with teaching in schools it's what they want you to teach. A lot of young girls on here ask some crazy questions because they don't have a proper education on the topic. They should be informed about everything, even options they have. Regardless of having sex ed groups and classes ultimately I feel, they will make the decision for themselves all we can do to protect is educate because knowledge is power. Unfortunately we can't be everywhere and we can only implement so much punishment at home before they rebel. But it should be talked about in homes and in school, in the long run it can only help.

I'm in BC Canada. It sucked. they didn't teach us about anything but plain straight sex. No gay sex or anything like that. They didn't teach us about sexuality or consent or sexual harassment. They taught us how to put condoms on and what penises look like and sexually transmitted diseases. 
Sex Ed needs to be changed and they need to teach more then what they do.

I live in Arizona and I had more abstinance education than actual sex ed. We learned about puberty and the changes it causes in our bodies but nothing about sex, other than it's bad and should be saved for marriage.

I went to a Christian school in Australia and it was basically human biology instead of sex education. We had to label diagrams and do irrelevant things like that. They basically just told us that abstinence was the only way to go and left it at that

The day I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter I got called to the clinic while in sex Ed. So no.

Personally my Sex ed was awful, they taught us to put condoms on plastic penis', didn't learn about any other form of BC, and used milk to show how stds were passed, it ended up with 90% of the class having an 'std'. Which isn't really an accurate representation because it's very unlikely someone will sleep with that many people in that small group of people. It basically drove it in that if you have sex you'll get an std. My sister is 14 and has had little to no sex ed yet. They've done very basic, I think just pictures of a penis and a vagina. I'm from the uk by the way

I went to a small, private Christian school in Texas, and the administrators decided to completely skip Sex Ed and basically anything that had to do with male or female genitalia. They taught that the Bible says you should wait till you're married to have sex, and that's all there is to it. We learned absolutely nothing about our body, or how to protect ourselves if we didn't wait till marriage.

My school doesn't give Sex Ed and a lot of girls of pregnant. For example, Thursday was my first day back at school, I have a friend who has wanted to get pregnant with her boyfriend for some time, we've all advised her against it. So when I arrived at school Thursday morning she comes up to me and says "You're going to be an auntie." I was in complete and utter shock. A part of me was happy for her and another part was disappointed, she's only 17 and a senior in high school. She doesn't know what she's getting herself into and I'm scared for her, she's a great girl and this is gonna change things in a big way.

I went to public school in Texas and didn't even get a sex ed like course until I was taking the second half of biology in college...
