I'm 35 weeks and no weight???

Question

How does everyone know how much their babies weigh already (before birth) my doctors have already told me no more ultrasounds unless something going wrong. So I guess my question is how do you find out how much the baby weighs???

Honestly no one does. The estimates are notoriously inaccurate by ultrasound. By feel they aren't any better. My midwife tends to say what the approximate average is but has made it clear it's just an average. 
No one actually knows what a baby weighs before they are born. They know ultrasounds can be off by multiple pounds and yet give these exact weights to people. It's never made sense to me.

It really puzzles me why so many women are told how much their babies are going to weigh. Unless you have gestational diabetes it seems pointless. Your baby will grow to a size your uterus can handle. It's usually way off anyway so I wouldn't worry.

When I go I ask the doctor to estimate by feeling around. I don't know how accurate it is but it makes me feel better lol

I had one last ultrasound at 36 weeks, which I had no idea we were going to do. That's when they were able to tell us the weight estimate and definitely see the babies position.

It also depends on ur Insurance also.. If ur insurance won't pay for it then ur dr won't offer it.. Unless the clinic ur going to will cover it only if ur high risk

If you have a growth scan they will tell you. If you don't have any more ultrasounds (usually this late they are only if they are medically necessary) then you won't know.

They're not very accurate anyway.

I'm high risk. My high risk doctors do ultrasound only. They don't deliver so I tend to trust their estimates. They were right on with my son.

No one truly knows for sure how much baby weights until born. I had an ultrasound at 37 weeks 2days because I had a 10lb 9oz baby my last one so they wanted a rough weight on this one to see if I could go to term or if I needed a c section and baby weighted 7lbs 1oz give or take a lb so as long as I don't gain weight then we are food to go for a normal natural birth and the last 3 weeks I haven't gained any weight next apt at 39w2d is Tuesday and I'm kinda hoping to have made progress as of Friday I wasn't dialated and baby was still a bit high

I'm high risk due to hyperthyroidism, so they've been keeping close tabs on my little ones size and progress for some time now. I have weekly ultrasounds along with fetal monitoring. I'll be 36 weeks on Monday and baby's current estimated weight is 4 pounds, 5 ounces. It changes weekly and goes off of the measurements during the ultrasound. I see a lot of women have mentioned they can be inaccurate and that is very true, but my first born was within a pound of the estimated weight, so I guess it just depends. Some baby's have more fat on their bones then others and they probably just use an average to provide the estimates. Either way I wouldn't go out exchanging things previously bought  by the estimates provided, so you'll be fine. It's probably better to wait, you get anxious when you're constantly in the doctors office twice a week like myself lol
