Need to urinate more

My period was around 2 weeks late this month, they have been irregular since stopping the depo provera injection last May. Think my body is just going through hormonal changes and that's why the period was late. Anyway I noticed that I need to urinate more frequently while I've been on my period.. Also at the beginning the blood was black and dark brown and it took around 2 days for the blood to go red, horrible cramps too and been miserable. Anyone else been like this before?
