Early labor?

I am currently 39 + 3 and I have been up all night with cramps but they've been pretty inconsistent (lasting about the same, but different lengths of time apart). It kind of feels like period cramps. Is this an early sign that labor is near? First time mom so I have no idea what to expect. And I know it can be different for everyone!

That wounds like contractions. I'd time how far along apart they are and call your Dr or go to the hospital you plan on delivering at just to be sure.

It's Braxton hicks. I've had bad period like cramps for almost 2 weeks. My OB says it's just your uterus getting ready for the big show. He says that I will know when a real contraction starts. Still waiting! Cramps and all :(
