Please help!

This might be a stupid question but I'm a first time mom so I have zero idea. Is it possible to go into labor if you're not dilated at all? I had a doctors appointment this morning and I wasn't dilated. She said it felt thin but that it was still closed. But for the past ten minutes or so, I've been feeling so uncomfortable. My stomach has been tightening and sometimes the pain wraps around to my lower back. It's just not comfortable at all and I'm super worried. I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow so it's still super early and I'm super nervous. I called and left a message for the after hours nurse but I live in Virginia and it's snowing like crazy and my doctors office closed early 😩😩😩 I just drank a bottle of water and am laying down, but there's kind of like a stabbing pain and my stomach is still tight.
