I always thought interracial relationship were two people of different coloured skin types being together. Yet recently I saw people of the same colour skin who were different nationalities saying they were interracial. Is that correct? Thankyou.

This isn't me being funny, I want to know as my partner and I are different nationalities but both white.

To me interracial is Caucasian with Asian, or African American with Hispanic. Things like that. Not American dating Canadian, or Japanese with Chinese.

Interracial is dating someone not of your same race. Which is why it's called inter(racial). Asian and Caucasian are both white but different races.

The two people you saw could themselves be a mix of races. So if one had a Caucasian and African parent and another had say a Caucasian and Hispanic parent then would also be an interracial couple. Their skin tones aren't necessarily an indication that they are the same race either.

I don't think nationalities makes an interracial relationship. So by that account if I dated a white American (and I am a white Canadian) I would be in an interracial relationship? That doesn't make sense.

Its not necessarily about skin color. You could be Dominican with dark skin and be considered Hispanic not black. Its more of a cultural thing i think

Remember even if their skin color is the same, doesn't mean they're the same race. Interracial relationship means dating between different races.

Hes Chilean and im American... 100% different.  Different culture, different color (Hes more olive, im more rosey), different ways we worship, but i guess by this argument we aren't interracial because we are similar enough... When though genetically he is native Chilean and Spanish and I'm Scottish and German..

I'm Black, White, and Asian my FI is Black and White. We're almost there same skin tone him being a little bit darker and we are a interracial couple. We are also from different cultures and countries so it's not always about skin tone because people of different races come in different skin tones.
