Acanthosis nigricans

Maya

My [misdiagnosed] eczema problem turned out to be acanthosis nigricans according to my skin test. Getting my stitches out later today and will learn more from the dermatologist.

Amlactin (spendy lotion) was recommended, but also the generic urea 20%

Does anyone have any insight or tips on where to find the generic form?

How do you mentally and physically cope with this skin problem?

It's been hard on my self esteem since I was 15 and it first developed and within a year my skin began to flake. The first dermatologist spent less than five minutes with me before saying it was eczema and that I would have it forever.

I've already done some googling but would appreciate hearing from real people.

Has anyone gotten rid of it through strict diet and exercise changes? Tips on insulin resistance?

Aside from having pcos, I have been tested and I do not have diabetes, but sometimes it seems that I'm getting all the complications of diabetes 😡

**update** Have to see an endocrinologist and get a check up in a few months with the dermatologist to see how the amlactin or generic does. I think I will use the amlactin ultra first. They gave me a prescription for cortisone to deal with inflammation. I feel lucky to be working with a good medical team.
