Wondering If I'm Receiving Improper Care...
First of all, I really want to stress that I am a very low maintenance/drama free person. I am curious about the type of care of other tricare users have received during their pregnancies.
I miscarried last October and never saw an ob my entire pregnancy or miscarriage. I miscarried at 10 w but the baby had stopped growing at 6w. Miscarriage was confirmed at the ER. When the women's health center called me on Monday after my hospital visit they told me to take Motrin for pain and go to the er for complications. They never had me come in at all, just go to weekly blood draws.I was told I had to pass everything naturally. That a d &c wasn't even an option. Even when the pain was really intense and I asked for medicine they wouldn't prescribe anything. They said if it was that bad then to go to the er. I am just curious if others had this same experience or if it was different?
I thought maybe that's just the process for miscarriage. Maybe you just don't get seen. I had moved past it, until today. I'm currently expecting again. I'm 6 weeks today. We have a family history of extreme hypermesis. I didn't experience that at all with my last pregnancy, but this pregnancy it is terrible. It was tolerable for the last two weeks. The last two days have been awful.
I called the women's health clinic to ask what they could do. They told me until I come in and fill out paper work (which I'm too sick to fill out) and have my first scheduled visit they can't help me. If I have issues I'm to go to the er. So they won't prescribe anything for nausea to help me at all. They said if I need prescription help to go to the er. I asked at what point do I go to the er and she didn't have an answer. Seriously? It's a simple question...
Again, before I go yell at people in a hormone induced rage while trying not to spew vomit on their shoes...I just want to know if other military people have had this experience, or am I just getting really bad medical care.
Secondly, I have a friend who is due a week before me. She went in to fill out the paperwork and schedule her orientation appointment. It is set for when she is 11 w. At that appointment you speak to a nurse who will schedule your first appointment with an ob/gyn and your first ultra sound. They told her they were so backed up that her first visit with the ob would probably be when she is 15 weeks. So not to expect much when she comes in for her paper work and orientation appointment at 11 w. At this clinic we are supposed to have our first visit when we are 10-12 weeks. They said they have too many pregnant patients and that everyone is having their appointments delayed. Again I just want to know if is this normal.
So can people tell me if this is normal? Or are my friend and I receiving improper care.
Sorry, if this post lacked finesse or proper grammar. I'm much too nauseous to type properly on my phone.
