What can I do to help with breast milk

Question

Is there anything I can do to make my breast milk come in faster while pregnant? I never really understood getting breast milk in with my first and I could only breast feed for less than a month because my supply was low 😭 so this time I want to breast feed a good amount of time but I want my breast milk to come in full!! Any tips or ideas ??

Your body produces only what your baby needs. So if you skip a feeding for a night because you're away and bottle feed her, then your body thinks she needs less. Make sure to always pump in place of feedings to keep the supply up. Try not to delay feeding or pumping.

Baby to the breast with a good latch is the best way to increase milk. It's truly all about supply and demand (for the most part). My struggles with my first were due to a poor latch I believe.

From what I've read, the best way to increase supply is to breastfeed from the very start on demand. You can also pump between feedings. Nothing I know of to do before birth though.

My hospital has breastfeeding classes and you can talk to a lactation consultant. If you're worried about it, look into what resources there are at your hospital/in your area.

Some people just don't produce much. My sister n law tried with all 3 kids but she just didn't produce much or enough for any of them.

I'm not sure about the production of milk supply while pregnant... But there's lots of soups and alcohol free beer that help with lactation.

I have PCOS and never thought we'd have kids so breastfeeding wasn't even a thought until we actually got preggo on our own 8 months after we said I DO. At that point I was the last of my friends to have kids and they had all breastfed for diff amounts of time. They made sure to support me in my decision to try to BF despite my hormone issues. It was tough but I started pumping on the 2nd day after her birth while still in the hospital awaiting discharge. I would then nurse her on demand and pump. I however only nursed her at night and didn't pump which hurt my supply but we made it 6 months EBF and to 1 yr total. This time around I know my body better and will add more pumping sessions in between and right after her nursing. Good luck! Find an LC that can help if you ever have questions. Look at the pediatricians office as DD's Dr has multiple LCs on staff.

There are things you can do once baby is born such as nursing as soon as you give birth. Also there's an organic mama's milk tea by traditional medicinals and a earth mama angel baby milkmaid tea that help you have healthy lactation. But I personally wouldn't worry about it till baby is here.

Not really. Attend a local La Leche League or Breastfeeding USA meeting. Perceived low milk supply is one of the main reasons mothers wean early. Read "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" that book will answer most questions you may have.
