Significant Age Gap 🤔
I've posted this in a couple different boards cause I really want some advice!
I'd like to preface this saying that I am completely disinterested in any kind of rude comments.
So I'm 18 and talking to a man much older than me. I've always been into older men, and now that I'm legal, it's exciting to be able to actually talk to them. My guy is 41. He's not at all into me for sex alone, don't get me wrong, we flirt and have phone sex all the time. But he's never once asked for nudes, he's actually insisted that I not send them, and most of the time, our conversations have nothing to do with sex. We just genuinely enjoy picking each other's brains and having real conversation. He has denied my invites to a couple dates because my dad didn't know about us talking yet, and says he's willing to have a conversation with both of my parents about his real intentions for me. He tells me constantly that he wants to do right by me and my parents and doesn't wish to overstep any boundaries.
I talked to my parents about him, and my parents are telling me that "I can make my own choices about who I date" yet when I ask if I can go on a date with him to have more real interaction, suddenly they won't let me and think he's some creep.
I don't want to disappoint my family or create tension, but I have deep feelings for this guy and wish to be my own person and make my own decisions about this. I respected my parents enough to include them in this and try to have an adult conversation, but suddenly it's like I'm 15 and they find me incapable of judgment.
What should I do? (Might I add that I live with my parents.)
