Spermicide?

Question

So my boyfriend and I had a "scare" (he was convinced I was pregnant but wouldn't listen when I told him I know my own body). I absolutely will not use birth control because I don't feel that it's 100% safe for my body in my opinion. He hates condoms and let's be honest, sex with condoms isn't as great. Has anyone here tried spermicide? Are there any harmful side effects or anything like that? What type is better? This is our next choice to try so any advice would be wonderful.

I personally wouldn't, as it's a fairly harsh chemical that most people tend to find irritating. I once had spermicidal lube and the nonoxynol-9 just irritated the hell out of my vagina.

I think with vcf you have to insert it against the cervix, wait 15min for it to transform into a gel, and then you can have sex, but it's only good for like an hour or something. It's not as effective as most other methods, and if you don't get it placed right it's less effective, and if you start having sex too soon or go for too long, you risk it either not being fully gelled yet, or having been fully worn off/absorbed.

If you want to try it, go for it. It's obviously better than nothing. It's just not the best thing for your body to have shoved up there.
