Metformin

Ok, so I have recently found out I have PCOS and the doctor put me on metformin to help me bring my weight down and everything. I have started to lose weight! They also put me on birth control to help control my period, but it made me super sick so I had to go off it. Anyone else run into this problem? If so, how did you regulate you periods or will it start to regulate once I get this weight down?
