High white blood cell count

Alexah
Does stress make your white blood cell count go up? I'm almost 30 weeks and two weeks ago when I had my glucose test my doctor said my WBC was a little high. I wasn't to worried, because I had a cold and impetigo and just figured it was just my body fighting that off. They did another blood draw this week just to make sure it was getting better, but it's higher now, went from 16000 to 18000. But I'm not sick anymore. They said they sent the first draw to the lab to check for specific white blood cells to check for leukemia and lymphoma and that was all normal, which is a great relief. The doctor said that stress can rise the WBC count sometimes, and I have have been extremely stressed. My step mom died on the 7th, my Grampa fell and moved to a nursing home for a month, my husband is losing his job in April(the same time baby is due) and we're going to be moving in with my dad; so stressed is an understatement at the moment. I was wondering if anyone knows if that's true or not? Or if someone has had a similar experience? I'm not sure if I need to be concerned about this or not?
