Am I being petty?

My husband and I told his mother that we are expecting. She didn't want us to tell anyone til after our Drs appointment to confirm my pregnancy, as she still was in shock and didn't believe it. Well come to find out she's told her mother and all her siblings, which I wanted to be the one to tell! It's my news not hers! I think pregnancy hormones are taking over..

That's what happen when you tell people. We didn't tell a single person until we were ready for everyone to know

Some people, friends or family just can't see past the excitement and gossipy part. I would recommend trying to not let it get to you. When it's done it's done. It does seem disappointing at the time but just think you have given someone something to brag about ☺️ my mum just couldn't help herself 😂

You've got every right to be upset. That was your news to tell and she ruined it for you. I would have either yourself or your so talk to her to explain that she upset you by announcing for you, and in the future when there's something you're waiting to announce, she check with you before saying anything to anyone.

I think you have a legit reason to be upset. My mother in law is the same way...she's a big mouth and it pisses me off so much sometimes!!! My husband and I have learned that unfortunately there are some things we just can't tell her right away because she will tell people right away, even when we ask her not to.

It's reasonable to be upset, but this isn't surprising. I found that the best approach was not to tell anybody until we were ready to tell everybody.

That's how people are. If you didn't want others to know, you shouldn't have told her. Or, you should've told everyone you wanted to tell at once. When my in-laws found out, I was getting a million texts and calls within 5 minutes. Same as when I told my aunt (my mom is deceased).  Good news spreads fast. The only difference is that I didn't tell anyone until I was past 12 weeks and had an ultrasound.
