Why the heck didn't my doctor warn me?!

She suggested we do the cystic fibrosis test and it was as simple as checking a box. My bill came back from the clinic for $1350 that my insurance won't cover. What the heck!?!?! Why don't they tell you that so you can call insurance before you check the box?!

Because doctors don't know what things cost or how your insurance works. The office could have warned you as a courtesy but if it's usually covered by insurance companies, they probably wouldn't have thought to say anything. Sorry but it's always your responsibility to check with your insurance to verify coverage.
