Is it weird to transition from a car to SUV for 1 baby?

Well SO and I are really hoping for a baby this year and if it happens we want to buy an SUV (smaller sized SUV) so it'll be nice and spacious for our kid,dogs, and easier to fit stroller into the trunk. The trade in value for our car by the end of the year will be around 8k so we'll add that onto whatever SUV we get. Sometimes I think it's a silly idea and other times I think it'll be handy...

It's not weird, but take the baby stuff you'll always have with you to see how it fits in the potential candidates. Then consider how often you put more things in there. SUVs are smaller than they seem once you stick a newborn in there.
