CM during fertile time

Hey ladies, per the calendar today is the best day for me to try and concieve.. My CM is really wet though and runny ( sounds terrible ) I heard it was suppose to be thick so sperm could stick when it was your most fertile time.. I never really get this? Could something be wrong, is this not the right day? New to all of this, thanks for any help!
