Sex after delivery

I had a vaginal birth, but I had sex after I stopped bleeding at 3 weeks pp. Regardless you're taking your health into your own hands, best advice is to wait till the bleeding has fully stopped and use a condom.

If you don't wait the recommended six weeks you can get an infection in your uterus. Your cervix is still open, so anything can get in. 

I waited 6 weeks or longer because I had a lot of tearing and everything was so painful.  My husbands friend only waited a few days but she didn't tear.

I have a normal birth and I didn't wait the 6 weeks. I only waited about 2 weeks and we just used condoms and made sure that it wouldn't break at all!!!!! But everyone should wait as long as they can just in case something does happen. I was lucky that nothing happened from me not waiting. I should have waited longer because o had stitches down there so it hurt to do it and I ended up ripping out a stich or two. I got lucky that it didn't rip more and go back to get it fixed

The reason they ask you to wait 6 weeks is not because of tearing. After your placenta detached from your uterus there's basically an open wound where it was attached, and that needs time to heal, even if you feel fine. Not waiting can cause a serious infection.
