Panorama test

AN • will be having 2 babies about a year apart
Just wanted to let people know my experience with this test. I've written about it before and people told me it was an "irresponsible post", so let me proceed by saying... If you need the test, get the test!
In my situation, however... My doctor kind of tricked me into it. I was 28 at the time and she said "even if your chance of having a child with a certain genetic abnormality is 1/8000...if you're that one person, then your chances are 100%." Of course, now that I was scared out of my mind... I took the test without looking into costs or insurance. Obviously all of this is my fault, but I felt manipulated by the potential health of my baby.
Thankfully everything came back fine! Fast forward six months later and my husband and I were hit with an $8000 bill. Obviously my insurance would've cover any of this because I was never at risk. (No one cares about what the doctor said after the test was taken.)
If anyone gets hit with a bill like this... Just call natera (the company that gives the panorama test). Without any fighting whatsoever, they said that I only owe $200 (this may change with insurance coverage... But it seems to always be around that price, give or take). They said the never send out adjusted invoices, but that's all I owe!!
I hope this helps someone else out. Always question your astronomical medical bills!!
