When did you tell your older child?

Hi everyone.  I'm 7w2d right now and my first kid is 5.5 years old. I'm not a high risk pregnancy and don't have a history of miscarriage. For other moms with children already, when did you tell them you were pregnant?  I'm dying to let him know why his mama has been so sick and miserable and I know he's going to be so excited.

I told my daughter as soon as I found out! I told her first so we could tell my fiancé! I wanted her to be a part of it with me! And if anything was to happen I would definitely just explain it to her in a way that she would understand. She's six years old btw!

I have a 3 year old. I'm waiting to tell her until I get to the 2nd trimester. I've had 2 miscarriages prior to this pregnancy and we told her early with the first one (she was 2 at the time). After I lost the baby it was very hard explaining it to her.

I already told my son. I am almost 7 weeks preg, but he is only 2.5. If he was older, I would wait. I have heard that if you tell children too soon, they get impatient. Its the equivalent of when they go for a long car ride and say "are we there yet?" And you have to tell them "no" 450 times. I wouldn't be able to handle "is the baby coming yet?" All the time haha

As long as all my blood work comes back healthy, we'll be telling my step daughter on the weekend of the 19th, so, 8w1-3d... We were going to wait for the ultrasound but we don't know when that will be yet. And I don't want her to think I'm being an unfun asshole by not wrestling with her and such like usual 😅

I told my daughter after our 1st ultrasound. She only knew that I hadn't been feeling well. We took her out to dinner and told her that a "special guest" would be joining us lol after we ordered our food, I took out the picture and introduced her to the "special guest".  When she realized she was going to be a big sister, she got super excited, gave me and my boyfriend huge hugs and kisses. Needless to say she cannot wait to meet her baby brother or sister.
