First doctor app too soon?

Question

So according to nurture app I am almost 5 weeks pregnant took 5 home pregnancy tests and all came positive. Went to the doctor today and just had my annual check up and he said I will have to be patient and wait another 3 weeks to actually confirmed pregnancy which is do my first ultrasound and order blood work! 
He said due to my history (myomectomy and one miscarriage) I will have to be patient and wait until then 
Is that normal?

Typically a doctor won't take you until your 8 weeks along which as annoying as it is yes it is normal

An ultrasound won't say much anyway right now. 8-10 weeks is normal.

Yes, its normal. I had to wait till 12w to see my obgyn even with history of miscarriages.

this is weird to me bc im pregnant with number 4 and every pregnancy i called doc as soon as the test came back positive n they got me in withina week for blood tests n urine test to confirm pregnancy despite only being like 2 to 3 weeks preg. every time...i guess all docs are different. blessings n a healthy n happy 9 months to you!
